Susan Porteous

Susanne Porteous grew up in Scotland and attended the Slade School of Fine Art in London achieving the Postgraduate Diploma Fine Art in1986.
She came to Australia in 1993, taught lithography at the University of Newcastle, before having three children.
In 2024, she travelled to San Francisco and visited the collection of the Bay Area Figurative painters and the San Francisco School of Abstract Expressionism at SFMOMA. This was instrumental in re-discovering her passion for painting and in May 2025 she held a solo show of paintings at 'Onwards Gallery’ in Newcastle.
She currently teaches drawing for Screen and Media at Hunter Street TAFE.
