The 20th Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize will be held in June 2020. 

We are delighted to announce Doma Group is back as the major sponsor for this prize. 

Entries in the following categories:

  • 3D Sculpture

  • Painting

  • Photo Media

  • Works on paper

 

PRIZES:

The Doma Group overall winner will receive $5000 cash

Category winners will receive $1000 cash 

The people's choice winner will receive $500


Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

KEY DATES:

  • Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize information night, April 8, 2020, at 7pm. 

  • Entries due for delivery to Newcastle ArtSpace on June 1, 2020, between 10am and 7pm. 

  • Winners announced at Newcastle ArtSpace at 6pm on June 5, 2020. 

  • Finalist exhibition, June 5 - June 29, 2020.

Now in its fifth year, the Newcastle Club Foundation Art Prize offers a $10,000 acquisitive painting prize which encourages Hunter artists to create works of excellence around a theme. A $1,000 non-acquisitive prize is also awarded to the runner up.

The theme of the 2020 Prize is yet to be set. Please check back in early 2020 for details.

SHOOT YOUR LOCAL

PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION

Prize: $5000

Hunt Hospitality has joined forces with Newcastle ArtSpace to present Shoot Your Local.

This $5000 photographic prize is open to any photographer, professional or amateur, residing in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie or Port Stephens local government areas. Entries can be taken on a digital camera or a mobile phone camera. Entries using a filter or digital manipulation will not be accepted.

 

Entries must not have been previously submitted for judging in any other art prize, or have been on public display, within the previous 12 months. Entries must have been taken within 12 months of the closure of entries (January 28, 2020)


KEY DATES:

  • Entries must received electronically by midnight on January 28, 2020.

  • First round of judging of will occur between January 29 and February 25, 2020.

  • Finalists will be notified as soon as the first round of judging is completed.

  • Finalist works will be hung at the Duke of Wellington Hotel on February 26, 2020.

  • The winner will be announced on Friday, February 28, at 6.30pm, at the official exhibition opening at the Duke of Wellington Hotel.

  • The people’s choice will be notified, after Sunday, March 29, 2020 and the winner will be notified.
