ABOUT US
ABOUT US
Newcastle Art Space is one of the leading institutions for the production and presentation of art in the Hunter Region. Since 1983, Newcastle Art Space (NAS) has played an active role in shaping the city’s cultural identity by offering studio spaces, exhibitions, art prizes & creative programs that support Hunter-based artists at every stage of their careers. Initially the Newcastle Community Arts Centre (NCAC), now Newcastle Art Space - NAS is a vital contributor to the rich cultural life of Newcastle and the Hunter.
Newcastle Art Space is a dynamic community of creatives with more than 20 artist studios, exhibition spaces and a changing program of exhibitions & events. We host art prizes and run unique professional development opportunities, such as the Mentorship program.

We provide opportunities to exhibit to artists at an emerging level through to established career. In 2019, we established internship and mentorship programs to further support professional arts practice in the Hunter. In 2025 we celebrate more than 40 years through a birthday celebration, alumni exhibitions and historical research.
