2015 Engineer is an acrylic painting on canvas featuring Murray Byrnes the engineer and a member of Nobbys SLSC. This is an historical painting in a sense as the engine he is standing next to pulls a coal train which will in time be a thing of the past as we transition into a renewable energy future. The artist, Richard Kearney, completed, part time in the evenings , the drawing and painting certificates at Newcastle School Fine Arts. He participated in solo and group exhibitions from then on. After retirement from primary school teaching he did the Visual Arts Diploma at the same TAFE , as well a bronze surf life saving at Nobbys Surf Lifesaving Club. He is a member of the Newcastle Society of Artists and NAS and continues to participate in exhibitions.
