Spirit Tree by Ileigh Hellier
2026
Oil on board
40cm x 50cm
This painting is about the beauty in all things that are paradoxically simple and complex, like trees. I like to think that living things have a spirit, soul or similar, another that's somewhat simple yet challenging at the same time.
Ileigh was born in Batahbah (Belmont) (1995). Ileigh has a Diploma of Visual Arts from Newcastle Art School (2015) and a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Newcastle (2017). Ileigh has been a finalist in the John Glover Prize, Jacaranda Drawing Prize, Waverley Art Prize and the Deakin University Small Sculpture prize. Ileigh has had 5 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions including exhibitions with Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Despard Gallery, Curatorial and Co, Backwoods Gallery and Boom Gallery..
