My work explores objects and place, bringing interest to everyday scenes with a playful and sometimes sarcastic kitsch undertone. For this reason my work fits within the scope of the theme as my paintings are a reflection of my personal experience with day to day life. This painting is of a scene I drove past for several weeks while taking my daughter to daycare in the mornings. I had to drive through a sketchy part of town and this burned out car felt like a symbol of the neighbourhood just sitting there while life went on all around it for weeks on end.
