'Roadhouse' is a nostalgic image--part seen, part reimagined--from an optimistic post war past of streamlined Art Deco tourist coaches and shiny FJ Holdens. Adjoining the Pacific Highway just north of Newcastle, its story ended at the start of a new century with the construction of a new re aligned bypass -- smoothing out the bends, dividing the traffic lanes and lifting the pavement above periodic flooding.
