Photography and installation

Izabela Pluta

Izabela Pluta is Polish-born, Australian-based artist whose expanded photographic practice has developed a unique visual language of spatial and representational means to signal a different modality of vision. Her work aims to push the limits of photography as a medium and practice developing a way of working that physically and conceptually navigates states of uncertainty.

Pluta’s work has most recently been presented in significant exhibitions at the Heide MOMA, The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, The University of Queensland Art Museum, UNSW Galleries, The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Bundanon Art Museum, the Museum of Warsaw and the State Gallery in Sopot, Poland and Spazju Kreattiv, Malta. Izabela holds a PhD from the University of Wollongong (2017), a Master of Fine Art from UNSW, and a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Newcastle. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Arts, Design & Architecture at UNSW Sydney, and is represented by Gallery Sally Dan-Cuthbert.
