Holly Macdonald

Holly Macdonald is an independent artist working across ceramics, performance, collaborative practice and community arts. Through her practice she explores the dynamic relationship between maker, material, and place. Currently based in Muloobinba/ Newcastle, Holly has presented work in a range of contexts throughout Australia including at Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Lake Macquarie Multi-Arts Pavilion mima, Cement Fondu, Firstdraft, Sabbia Gallery, and Sturt Craft Centre. 


She has undertaken residencies in the Northern Territory, France, Belgium and last year at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden, Scotland. As well as maintaining a studio practice Holly has been a public programs tutor at the National Art School since 2022 and works periodically with The Hermannsburg Potters. She has delivered workshops at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Maitland Regional Art Gallery, and Sturt Craft Centre. Holly is a graduate of the National Art School (2014) and holds an Honours degree in Fine Art (First Class) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (2017).
