This artwork is a deeply personal exploration of grief, emotional growth, and the unsettling truth of comfortability. The evolving environmental landscape reflects my loss, what was once there is now gone. Over six months, I revisited the painting with a fresh perspective, allowing it to unfold as a visual diary documenting the journey from despair to the search for hope. Symbolic elements were added, such as my drowning, unmade bed where I laid grieving, a numberless clock hovering above, and a ball and chain with a trapped hand escaping from underneath, illustrating the weight of time, struggle, and emotional entrapment during grief. A hidden eye in the darkest corners observes the shifting narrative. As the six-month mark nears, white orchids emerge from the water, symbolizing the mind finally accepting what once seemed impossible to overcome. This work seeks to capture the surreal individual experience of grief, depression, and rediscovering light within the mind again.
