The sun shines over the figures on their towers, they wear masks as if to imitate the heights of the birds which fly overhead. They have reached a foolish goal, and nature continues despite them.

When given a woodblock to carve I was determined to use it the best I could, to carve something I can be proud of. My motivation for making this is Albrecht Durer’s woodcut prints. I did not try to emulate his style, but I look at his prints and wonder what techniques were used to carve them, and if I could learn those techniques.
I am a selfish artist. I make art because I need to, and I am hungry to learn and improve. Enrolling in a Diploma of Visual Arts through Tafe NSW has allowed me to explore art and introduced me to a community of artists which inspire me.
