About the artwork:
'Capturing My Inner Reflection' explores themes of visibility, identity, and emotional concealment. Through woven imagery of self and an alienatic alter ego, the work examines what we reveal and what we bury beneath. What does it mean to be seen? Who are we behind the reflection? Set deliberately in darkness, the light box pulses with colour, UV light, and shadow, causing a shift in dissolving a mirror into a window of a rhythmic cycle. Tinted glass transforms the piece into a portal inviting introspection, framed by speckled light and thick scaled skin. The work holds a tension between vulnerability and protection, reflecting on the parts of ourselves we often alienate or feel alienated by. Hidden in the dark or misunderstood. In the right light, these layers begin to show or retreat beneath the spotlight.
