About the artwork:

My work, 'Goddess Clit', is inspired by recent scientific research into the anatomy of the clitoris, an organ long ignored by science despite being found in half the human population.
In 1998 an Australian woman surgeon discovered the actual shape of clitoris was not a small button, but a large and extended organ. Only in 2026 did a team of women doctors map the intricate interwoven nerves system within the clitoris.
This work celebrates the existence of an organ solely for pleasure. The soft sculptural form is exaggerated in size, emphasising its importance of this discovery. I used satin and brocade to express richness and sensuality. The tiny lights woven through the wires with intermingled with silver and gold chains, light up in response to any sounds near it, which echo's the sensitivity of physical touch and stimulation. This represents the multiplied nerve ends that carry sensation and stimuli.
