I have spent many a day adoring this Sand pool off of the Newcastle baths. I only learnt latter from my Mother In-law that she used to as a child , paddle around the world in a Canoe in that pool.
She explained that there used to be a map of the world carved out of the bottom of the pool and you were able to take your own or hire a canoe to paddle, float around the world.
I thought it was an amazing idea. I have since been told that it has been covered up because it is in poor condition.
This is one of my favourite places in Newcastle.
We are blessed to have so many.
