About the artwork:
To me, the Gouldian finch is our most beautiful native bird. Beautiful but fragile.
Like many women of the Hunter, I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. At the end of my 9-year journey for justice I painted this artwork. Survivors know the crushing weight of seeking justice for crimes committed against them. Which they do not only do for themselves but for future generations. My art practice testifies to moving from adversity and trial into a New Season. This artwork gives voice to hope.
