Inspired by nature and repurposed materials, ‘The Hunter Jewel’ demonstrates an experimental wearable that represents pieces of the famous Hunter Valley, showcasing its natural environment and history, with an awareness of an unstainable environmental twist.

The Hunter Jewel's pieces of nature display the Hunter's iconic natural bushland and beauty. The rusted metals are representation of the region's farmlands and recent history. The thread of colour shows the colours of nature here, the rolling hills, mountain ranges, creeks, rivers and fertile soils of the stunning Hunter Valley. The feathers speak to the region's abundant birdlife, whilst maintaining the use of feathers used in traditional headwear, and the awareness of an unsustainable environmental twist signifies the overuse of synthetic materials used in today's disposable world. The Hunter Jewel is a blended experimental work showing nature, environment, history, repurposing and the lack of it.
