Hold Here
Hold Here explores the challenge of remaining present in a world that constantly pulls us elsewhere. Set against the sunrise, the image reflects a desire to stay grounded with the land, sea and sky.
Birds move through the frame in fleeting arcs, creating a moment of calm and uncertainty. The figure stands rooted and exposed, held in a brief pause between movement and stillness. Together, these elements speak to the tension between attention and distraction, memory and anticipation.
Created over more than fifteen visits to Newcastle Ocean Baths, the work emerged through patience and observation. Working from a fixed position, I waited for life to unfold naturally before the camera.

In a culture that often rewards constant motion, the work proposes that there may be value in remaining still, however briefly. It is within these fleeting moments of attention that we find alignment with our surroundings and with the simple experience of being here now.
