In 2023 I undertook a residency at the Nobbys/Whibayganba headland lighthouse. During the residency, I made a series of small, abstract collages. The collages were a direct response to the experience of being immersed in the coastal landscape from the vantage point of the Nobbys/Whibayganba headland. When I returned to my studio, I used these collages as inspiration and source material for a series of paintings on canvas. The artwork ‘Sketch for Summer’ is one of the larger paintings made in this series.
