Within my creative process of using colourants, inks, acrylic and pastel on a raw canvas substrate. My beloved botanica takes on feminine persona. Forging a new creation that merges the numinous and the physical. Applying expected marks to a unnatural shape, form or line as I explore an imagined flora's personality and tension. Using layers and luminosity to capture the contrast between fresh and weathered, subtle and tortured. All to depict the timelessness of growth in nature. My goal is to capture a thin space, where there is a sense of wonder that plays out as a courtship that invites the viewer to recognise this same, imaginative, enigmatic space
