This work depicts an imagined landscape whereby the natural environment has suffered a significant change and is no longer inhabited by people. Within the work the remnants of man made physical structure starkly juxtapose an otherwise untouched natural space.
I thought a lot about displacement of large populations of people as a direct result of climate change, in particular rising sea levels when making this work. It feels especially relevant within a nation with rapid growth and development occurring and a vast majority of our population situated so closely to our coastline.
