‘1st birthday party’ is an exploration of a moment from my first birthday party, derived from a photo taken over two decades ago. I’m using vivid colour and lively brushstrokes whilst playing with composition and scale to reimagine this 6x4 photo in a new and powerful way. The painting radiates luminous warmth, enveloping the viewer. By coupling past and present, while utilising the universal imagery of a birthday party, I endeavour to encourage you to reminisce on your own memories.
