The possibilities of paper as a sculptural material are endless. To provide a focus amidst a myriad of options, Bridget has limited herself to using curved folds. This wall mounted sculpture highlights the flexible, inelastic and incompressible characteristics of paper, whereby the curved fold creates smoothly curving planes.
Formed from a single sheet of 200gsm watercolour paper, scored by computer controlled laser cutter then folded by hand, this artwork is a marriage of technology and craftsmanship. The two dimensional paper is coaxed into a stable three dimensional form by folding along the curved edges. The resulting highly structured geometric form offers a calm, rhythmic, ordered, meditative visual experience.
