These pants began over two decades ago. They were worked on for about 3 years and were then put into storage for nearly 20 years. I came across them again in the October of 2024 and they were completed in early May 2025. They began as a pair of 90’s butterfly jeans and evolved like a butterfly does. The fabrics and fur that they consist of all came from places of love. The work involved in making these is a testament to love.
My mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer in November 2024 and passed away just 6 weeks later in December 2024. These pants were always a labour of love. But from my mother’s diagnosis, till her death and the grief that then ensued afterwards that was all encompassing, these pants have become so much more. They have kept me grounded, given me purpose and have been cathartic in a time of fear, uncertainty and utter devastation. I have dedicated these pants to my dear mother Merran Jean. Every stitch in these pants is a stitch of love.
