What propels my practice forward is my investigation of the human body in all its frailties and strengths. After 30 years working as a nurse practitioner, I am beginning to explore the human form further, through drawing. This portrait, completed during a drawing marathon in Albury Wodonga in January 2026, was a step away from my usual investigation into the whole body. Instead I focussed on getting to the core of the models intense emotional state through his face alone. The use of charcoal and pastel allowed me to work fast and expressively.
