I make abstract paintings through processes of layering, erasure, fragmentation, and repair. Working with discarded studio materials, found imagery, masking tape, paint residue, and salvaged surfaces, I repeatedly construct and dismantle images until only fragments and traces remain.
My painting explores how memory, labour, displacement, and histories of industry become embedded within material surfaces. Rather than describing recognisable places, I think of landscape and architecture as psychologically charged spaces shaped by accumulation, weathering, demolition, and reconstruction. Through abrasion, concealment, and recovery, earlier states of the image remain visible beneath the surface, creating unstable spaces between recognition and disappearance.
I am interested in abstraction as a way of holding emotional and political residue without settling into fixed meaning.
