The elements of nature play a large part of inspiration of this piece, in particular water, rocks and aquatic plants. When creating this painting I had colours in mind but and no preconceived outcomes except wanting to elicit a feeling of walking over rock pools and looking into and beneath the water. I began the piece with bold, gestured brush strokes, dribbles and splatters and then added many layers with texture and shapes to create harmony. As each later was added it enhanced the sense of looking into the water and being able to see all the different plants and rocks under the surface.
