About the artwork:

Seeing black cockatoos is for me, a celebration of creation at its most awesome. They have an air of cheekiness, and their appearance is graceful, yet clunky and prehistoric. Their unique cries call me to attention. On this particular sighting, I was walking a coastal path and heard a faint, cracking sound overhead. I looked up to see a few of these spectacular creatures scattered in the not too high banksia trees, this one nibbling away on a banksia cone. Given their size and colour, I’m always intrigued at how well they remain hidden amongst the canopy of leaves and branches. Nature’s camouflage. I stood for a long time watching it, simply awestruck at how lucky I was to witness this amazing creature up close.
