This self portrait was created using materials that feel familiar, accessible and immediate. I'm drawn to colour and texture more than any specific emotion or concept. I paint because I have to, its expression at its purest form. As you can see through my brush strokes, it is a fast and instinctive act that doesn't come from planning, but from feeling.
In this piece I've included details that feel unmistakably me: my favourite green shoes, my painting pants, and the fluffy pink jumper my loved ones will all recognise.
This portrait is simply an honest reflection of who I am when I'm creating and how creating makes me feel.
