About the artwork:
This sculpture explores the dynamic interplay between tension and compression through a configuration that sculpts negative space as a central element. Using stretched netting suspended between wooden and metal rods, the work transforms absence into form, inviting a rethinking of how structure can be both rigid and fluid. The netting becomes a membrane that holds and defines space, rather than simply occupying it, while the rods act in compression to maintain a delicate equilibrium. Materials typically associated with construction and utility are recontextualised into a spatial composition that feels both engineered and organic. The work is part of an ongoing investigation into the poetics of structure, where balance, transparency, and spatial tension come together to create a form that is at once restrained and expressive. By foregrounding the void, this piece invites viewers to consider the ways in which space can be shaped, held, and made visible.
