About the artwork:

In this work I have used acrylic ink to make marks from discarded rubbish items found in the Australian bush. On a recent bushwalk I went in search of beauty and found a lot of discarded household rubbish instead. The discarded items included many plastics, objects from every day life, take away food containers, there were metal parts and machinery which I collected and took home to make this artwork. I have created a kind of mosaic or geometric pattern with the ink marks. I then painted in gouache around the marks to create a work of beauty from something so ugly. The work appears like a beautiful carpet, tapestry or mosaic made up of intricate designs using the rubbish. The painting is from a current body of work in which I paint the Australian bush in abstract form. This painting has inspired my next body of work.
