My father's childhood was tough! This painting shows a time as a young adult man in a rare moment of freedom and a hopeful time of his life where the past was a memory and the future looked bright. He is sitting atop (probably very culturally inappropriately by today's standards), one of the Katoomba 3 Sisters. The work is in oil on Belgian linen applied with spirit to use the sepia of the linen as a part of the image.
