The idea of where we go as we lay our last breath is an answer we won’t learn until the very end of our lives. This spiritual landscape of earthy dark browns, greens, and blues flowing with waves of pastel colours is used in a gentle watery brushwork of organic movement that directs a therapeutic message and promises of a peaceful crossover to the afterlife using excessive use of the acrylic medium. There are hidden symbols such as broken-up infinity symbols opposing immortality, tiny details revealing elements of the earth, human consciousness, and experiences throughout. I used a unique technique of listening to lyric-less ambient music to bring up colours through my feelings and experiences from the moving mediative sounds to confront myself to the theme ‘life after death’ in my work, creating an emotional painterly process, and pushing the traditions of how ‘death’ is portrayed in art.
