Landscapes of the Soul’ delves into the deeply personal inner worlds shaped by thoughts, emotions, memories, and dreams. Through experimental processes, I’ve created a multi-layered digital realm that combines painting, archival footage, dyed fabrics, and photographs of Australian landscapes in collaboration with another artist. Inspired by the imagery of Dalí’s ‘Meditative Rose’, my film reflects on the memories of growing up in Australian gardens, weaving together fantasy-like visions of the journeys we have taken and sometimes forget as we grow older. The layers move through a dreamlike sequence, using the elements of fire, earth, water, and air to evoke emotion and memory. Colour and textures are drawn from gardens, beaches, and dry lands to evoke nostalgia and connection to the country. Through this work, I invite viewers to slow down, take in the layers, and reflect on their journeys, forgotten moments, and the Australian landscapes that shaped their experiences.
