About the artwork:

This self-contained precise moment in time of Kate Winslett in ‘Titanic’. An intuitive contextual painting highlights the scrutiny of body shaming. The title derives from a comment Kate made confronting reporters & media saying ‘I hope this haunts you’ Creating an uncanny cinematic painting that addresses Contemporary Feminist concerns with themes of Gender and Power.

Creating an ominous feel which is evocative of the atmosphere, a sense of drama and velocity through the application of paint. The mirror in a circular shape denotes a porthole and relates to integrity, infinity and eternity. The rose gold colour was chosen to create uneasiness and relates to the name ‘Rose’ in the movie Titanic. The viewer is confronted, seeing themselves in the mirror, becoming the subject matter in a physiological space filled with tension􏰁. The most important intersection is when the viewer can have their own personal experience with the artwork􏰂 to have a lasting thought provoking impact􏰁.
