This work depicts a young girl dressed in a fairy costume, ready for a party.The year is 1949.Painted on vintage wallpaper there is a frivolity and sense of joy in the image,the wallpaper has flowers on it, the young girl wears a crown & holds a gleaming star on a stick. All is well in the world & the future is full of promise.But is all as it seems?The image is ghostly with transparent layers & rough brush strokes. The ghoul-coloured limbs & features hide a secret.The girl in the image is deaf.
