An ode to our Lord Mayor, Joy Cummings.
About the artwork:
Steel and smog, always a bloody man’s town.
1974 our air cleared by a formidable Joy; compassion, communication and community.
Our Lord Mayor, loved by all- year after year.
Preservation, protection and present.
Struck by fate, verbally stripped.
Luckily love has its own language.
Fear not the death, fear the lack of life in one’s breath.
In death, the voice of legacy is loudest of all.
Lay to rest upon the dunes of Worimi, a formidable Joy.
