Artist Name:
Lee-Anne Corrigan
Title:
"Monsieur Camembert ", Qirks in the Hunter
About the artwork:

Qirkz in the Hunter is an exciting theatre restaurant at the former Abermain Hotel. I first discovered this place when I was driving to work at Mountview HS last year. Yaron Hallis or Monsieur Camembert, is a well known and talented musician and entreprenuer from Sydney nightclub, the Camelot Room. The patrons who traditionally frequent the Abermain Hotel, are witnessing a radical overhaul of more usual country tunes and counter meals. Yaron has brought his eclectic flair to transform the culture through music from international and national acts every week. Entertainment, food and creative ambience is the hallmark of Qirkz in the Hunter.
I attended Newcastle Art School from 1976 - 1979, majoring in painting and printmaking. I travelled the hippie trail for 3 years before returning home to do another course in teaching. I have taught Visual Arts at many schools and tutored students from my art studio. I have entered the Archibald quite a few times but not successfully, I won the Newcastle Prize at SOAN in 2017 and I won the inaugural Seafarers Maritime Art Prize in 2023. I have other accolades in painting categories at local shows as I continue to practice and experiment with mixed media as I live my artistic life in Newcastle.
