Artist Name:
Helene Leane
Title:
Knitting the Country with Love
About the artwork:

As observers, we may think the Country Women's Association only proficient at knitting and baking. We cannot dismiss these feminine endeavours as traditionally the CWA has drawn on these skills to fundraise .In my artwork I have used the act of knitting to symbolise how the CWA has wrapped the country in care and love. This year the CWA marks its 100th year. Isolated country women joined together in 1922 to form a unified supportive force, that now lobbies for positive changes.
