Self Portrait with Palette
About the artwork:
Generations of artists have created self-portraits that depict them in work with their palette. The palette is a symbol of being an artist, and has a level of prestige attached to it. Yet this prestige has rarely been attributed to the work of women. In this piece I aim to challenge the viewer’s preconceived notion of the “male artist at work”. Ultimately, it represents my development and achievements as an emerging female artist.
