Being a conceptual artist, I always find the elements of life and the habitus of people creeping in as inspiration; myself being one of them. This artwork is one of a series of ‘blue people’ I have created. These figures take on the shape of both feminine and male and hold a dreamscape surrealist appearance, however they still demand you take them seriously. The focus being mostly drawn to the eyes and what they are trying to convince the audience of.
This ‘blue people’ series is a collection of works that touch upon all the features, emotions, confidence and even dark ideals, that I don’t entirely posses myself.
These people are who I wish I was, feeling things I can’t.
This piece in particular, is inspired by the late Frida Kahlo and how I meshed myself and her together; hoping to have even a little bit of her courage.
