My painting is a contemplation on how we curate our appearance as a form of artistic expression or to assume identities and be perceived in certain ways. It explores the deliberate construction of self, inviting the viewer to consider the ways in which we can skew opinions based purely on visual representations. Intrigued in the way we use fashion and accessories to craft a visual narrative of our identity, Cute, Punk, Emo, Goth is titled such to replicate what may appear in an online description for this style of shoe. The bottom line – don’t judge a book by its cover.
