This is a portrait of my husband. I have named this piece “Cable Knit” after the jumper he is wearing. I draw inspiration from the old masters and classical portraits, demonstrating light and shade on the face, beard and jumper to create depth. The texture of the beard and jumper contrast against the plain background. I chose to paint larger than life size to capture skin tones, features and character. I love to paint portraits and I really enjoyed painting this one. Here it is.
