Prettier I you smiled investigates identity and how it is perceived and expressed. I am interested in cultural identity via descendants and bloodlines. I have informed this with my own aboriginal heritage. I spent a large part of my life unaware of my Aboriginal heritage, mainly because my great-grandmother was told to keep her culture hidden due to White Australia's view on it at the time. After finding out years later, I am educating myself in my family's traditions and history, slowly learning as much as I can. Ever since this information was bought to me, I have always struggled with how I choose to identify, I feel conflicted as I was never raised around Aboriginal traditions and feel it is inappropriate to identify as First Nations without putting in the time and effort to learn and educate myself first.
