About the artwork:

‘Impermanent’ uses mark making and layering to explore the interplay between nature and time in the Flinders Ranges, conveying a sense of ephemerality and recognising change as the only true constant. The Flinders Ranges, one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, too, is susceptible to the changes wrought by time.
The tactile nature of hand-printing and the intuitive use of line and colour reveals unexpected marks and forces the abandonment of direct control over the outcome. The process of producing a composition through drawing, carving, printing, layering, tearing, and sewing further mimics the unpredictable nature of changes brought about by time.
‘Impermanent’ reveals a visual narrative that speaks of a changing ancient landscape and encourages the viewer to reflect on the concept; everything is transient.
