About the Event
Social Media and Self Representation - with Jodie McEwan from the Marketing Side
Overwhelmed? This is the workshop for you.
Most artists feel the pressure of being represented (or not being represented) by a gallery. The best, free way to represent yourself is through social media. While working with a gallery takes away the need to promote yourself, it’s vital that artists have the skills for DIY promotion until that magic day happens.

The days of taking photos of your portfolio or sending it to galleries for consideration are over. Today, your social media presence is the deciding factor when it comes to hooking a gallerist. And if you do it right? You have a ready-made avenue to sell directly to the public, get noticed by other galleries, and keep your customers up to date about what you’re doing next.
With the right kind of inspiring, educational and behind-the-scenes content, social media is a powerful tool you can leverage to get noticed and to attract potential buyers.
Your social media pages work for you 24/7, but that doesn’t mean you have to. In this workshop, we’ll take you through the basics of what, how and when to post, plus we will take a look at some artist and gallery case studies.   This workshop will give you all the insider tips and tricks to make social media a true reflection of you, your inspiration and your art.

We will also have James Rhodes at the ready to take you through how to take a good photo with your smart phone.
