Little Steel Boxes
About the artwork:
My work portrays the changing and dynamic relationship to the present landscape. The subject of the painting sits between Mount Sugarloaf and the Hunter River. This is a multi-layered space: floodplain and mangrove, covered over garbage, a thin veneer of soil and now an industrial complex. In this painting I examine how the introduction of the containers creates a new man made mountain encroaching on the enduring comfort of Mount Sugarloaf for those of us who call this region home.
