Women with Sky-Holding sticks 1
About the artwork:
Women hold up half the sky is a phrase used when discussing equality/inequality in all areas. My work takes that into a reality where I have painted in a woman at the back suggesting historical work by women and a more front-facing contemporary women wandering around holding up the sky sticks, while wondering exactly which half of the sky she is meant to be holding. My sticks are bent. My hands and arms are tired as indeed are women from the past and present fighting for equality
