Artist Name:
Andrew Leonard Shillam
Blue Night in Newcastle
About the artwork:

The dramatic topography of Newcastle was the landscape of my youth. I have painted from memory the hostel I lived in throughout the 90's, the Norfolk Island Pines in King Edward Park, the Obelisk, the cliffs, buildings and the streets we walked. Through a limited palette and a rhythm of repeated shapes I have tried to recreate in my composition the feeling of walking through that beautiful cityscape on a wild night.
