This year the Prize celebrates the built environment and landscapes of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, with the theme 'topographies of place and space'. The topography of place encompasses the features that mould a specific setting and make it distinctive - the mountains, valleys, rivers, buildings and streets. The theme invites artists to explore the relationship between the environment we inhabit and the spatial dimensions that shape our perceptions.

Ten finalists will be selected for exhibition in the finalist show at the Newcastle Club from 17 October - 3 November 2023. Prize winners will be announced at an Awards dinner at the Newcastle Club on 3 November 2023
