COVID-19 (Novel coronavirus)
Update: 18 March 2020, 8.30am

At Newcastle Art Space our current priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and volunteers, their families and our community.

Like all organisations we have been monitoring the latest advice from NSW Health regarding COVID-19. This is a rapidly evolving situation as the virus is also changing.

The Board has determined, as a precautionary measure, to cancel formal Gallery Openings until at least 14 June 2020 in accordance with the advice of the NSW Health Minister’s decree. We will be assessing this situation and updating regularly.

While Newcastle Art Space will remain open at present, with staff attending to daily business, we request that all in the community practice social distancing and healthy hygiene habits. Studio artists are fortunate, their studios can be safe, clean work spaces and lend themselves to social distancing.

We have placed Public Health Posters around the building to remind ourselves of what we can do. Keeping our public spaces clean and tidy may contribute to keeping our community healthy.

Everyone reacts differently to information about COVID-19 and it can be an emotive issue. We ask our community to be considerate and respectful of other’s feelings and circumstances, and to stay informed by regularly visiting NSW Health’s website for the latest updates. If you feel ill please seek medical advice.
